Introduction
Webprivacy is an extension which adds P3P support (cp. The Platform for Privacy Preferences or the master thesis for more details) to Mozilla Firefox 3+. It allows users to define privacy preferences. Webprivacy then checks for every website a user is visiting whether this website fulfills the users' privacy preferences or not.
Features of Webprivacy
- Different Levels of predfined privacy levels
- Custom privacy level
- Human-readable P3P policies
- Easy-to-recognize P3P status of a website by using an icon in the browsers' toolbar
- Caching of checked websites (cache can be cleared and is resetted after every browser restart)
Not supported P3P features
- Im- and export of privacy settings
- Expiry-Element
- Webprivacy does not check P3P policies before the website is actually loaded or a cookie is set
- Compact-Policies
- Elements added by using the extension-mechanism
- Multiple policies in one file
Installation
The xpi-file can be downloaded here. Just unzip and drag- and drop the xpi-file over an open Firefox window and the installation will begin automatically.
